THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

Today is the beginning of the Holy Triduum, a period of three days where we remember Jesus' Passion and death and prepare for his Resurrection this Easter Sunday. As we look forward to this Easter season, the Holy Triduum allows us to give thanks to Jesus for his great love and sacrifice for each one of us! I would really encourage you to consider celebrating the Triduum this year! There is no better way to give thanks to Jesus for his sacrifice and prepare for his resurrection this Easter!


On Friday, April 12th all students will be witnessing the Sudden Impact Mock Crash. This is an impactful presentation that Chapelle students are participating in and presenting to the school. The Mock Crash demonstrates the dangerous outcomes of distracted and drunk driving. It is a very emotionally impactful presentation and there will be multiple first responders on campus. There will be topics of drugs, drinking and death. If you would like to opt out of this presentation, please email your daughter’s counselor.

 

Spring Test Day is April 23rd for all 8-11th grade students. 8th & 9th grade students will be taking the Pre ACT 8/9 on paper and 10th & 11th grade students will be taking the Digital ACT.


Any 10th or 11th grade students who have previously taken the ACT ( at or outside of Chapelle) must have their MY ACT account information by April 8th. You will need this information for testing day. Please contact Laura Chimento if you have any questions.


Students will be dismissed after testing. Times will be available closer to test day.

Information for the 2024-2025 school year


As we head into the 2024-2025 school year, we are excited to share some news with all of you. We would like to inform you of an upcoming change regarding the high school uniform shoes. Effective August 2024, there will be a modification to the approved footwear for our school uniform policy. Because our current school uniform shoes, Doc Martens and Eastlands, are nearly impossible for our shoe vendor to get in stock and the quality of the shoe has become noticeably inferior, the Chapelle administration has made the decision for our students to wear the School Issue Semester - Tan Suede shoes. These are more comfortable, and we are happy to report that they are half the price of the Doc Martens. Please note that the 2024-2025 school year will be a transitional one. Students may wear either shoe BUT all grade levels will be required to abide by this new school shoe policy for the 2025-2026 school year. All new students are required to purchase the new style of shoe.  Any student with shoes in disrepair will be required to purchase the new shoe.  On check in day, all shoes will be checked. A picture of the new school shoe is attached.


Ponseti’s will carry our new shoes.  It is a School Issue shoe and that is the required brand. For your convenience, these shoes will be kept in stock at Ponseti’s all throughout the school year. If purchased in-store, Ponseti’s will offer a complimentary spray of their Suede Shoe Protector, as well as a second pair of shoe laces. Ponseti’s has been wonderful to work with so far, and we are excited to offer our parents this more affordable and easily accessible option of shoe wear for our Chipmunks! Ponseti’s is located at 3501 Severn Avenue, APT 3D in Metairie.

Challenge Pep Rally

Any student that did not purchase a Challenge t-shirt, but wants to attend Challenge, can purchase a $5.00 wristband on Thursday, April 18 during lunch in the gym. The wristband must be worn in order to enter the event.

Doors open at 5:30 PM; Games begin at 6:00 PM

Students that purchased a t-shirt will receive their wrist band for the event during Period S on Thursday, April 18. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR WRISTBAND ON TO ENTER THE EVENT.

Students are encouraged to wear the 2024 Challenge t-shirt or dress up to our theme "Chapelle at Your Service" (military theme) with jeans (no rips or tears), leggings (if your shirt covers your backside), or fingertip length shorts or skirt. No short shirts with midriff showing. 


Summer Reading Program

We are excited to announce that this summer all Archbishop Chapelle High School students will participate in an exciting new summer reading program. This program is designed to cultivate student choice, faculty mentoring, and small group discussions as well as promote a culture of reading among students, faculty, and staff. After reading their books over the summer, students will participate in “book club” style meetings with other students and faculty members who read the same book. Deadline for Service Hours is April 15th.


Those students who have the requirement do not need to do anything else.  Your Summary Report will be completed by Mrs. Capaci.


Those students who have completed more than the requirement of Community hours must complete a Service Hour Report form found on FACTS account, under Resource Documents. Complete the form and submit that to Mrs. Capaci. You can place the form in the class bin on her office door. If students have more than the required Chapelle hours (submitted by respective event coordinators), know that Mrs. Capaci will add these to your Summary Report. Should you have any questions, please e-mail or see Mrs. Capaci (Tuesday-Thursday, 7:30-12:30).


Those students who qualify for Matthew 25 recognition will be notified by Mrs. Capaci.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS AND THE REQUIRED 5 CHAPELLE SERVICE

HOURS MEANS THAT THEY ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE MATTHEW 25 SERVICE

PROGRAM.

Those students MUST submit ALL COMPLETED additional service hours (Chapelle

and Community) to the Director of Service for verification of accuracy and recording

using the Service Hour Report form. These forms may be submitted at any time during

the school year. The DEADLINE FOR COMPLETION IS APRIL 15, 2024.

Bullying is a distinctive pattern of repeatedly and deliberately harming and humiliating others and is characterized by a power imbalance between the two parties. Alumna Receives Recognition for her Real-Estate Success

Alyssa Quinn Escalante '13 is a New Orleans-based realtor with a passion for helping people find their dream home! Alyssa is an agent at Mirambell Realty and was recently named a Top 5 Producer for March 2024! In 2022, Alyssa was named Rookie of the Year, and she was also awarded the Top Agent in her brokerage. She then went on to be recognized as a "Rising Star" from the New Orleans Metropolitan of Realtors in 2023. Most recently, Alyssa graced the cover of Inside New Orleans Magazine’s ‘Women in Business’ edition for April 2024! Congratulations, Alyssa!

Nine Chapelle Students Join the Catholic Church

We are so proud of our nine students who joined the Catholic Church at this year's Easter Vigil. We walked with each student to connect them to the RCIA Program at their parishes, and we met monthly at school so they could journey together as a Chapelle family! They have grown so much in their faith and we are so proud of them! It is truly inspiring and exciting to watch Chapelle students build a relationship with our Lord. Parents Club Volunteer Opportunities

Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year. The Chapelle Parents Club assists our school in various ways throughout the year as well as being responsible for many events that benefit Chapelle students, faculty and the community. Parent Volunteers are valued members of our Chapelle family and help us to ensure that all events are memorable and successful. Please take advantage of the opportunity to become involved and to share in Chapelle’s traditions by joining the Parents’ Club and signing up to volunteer.

Tuition Incentive

As a member of Archbishop Chapelle’s Parents Club you have the option to participate in Chapelle’s tuition raffle. The winner of our raffle will be chosen at our volunteer appreciation party on May 2, 2024 and will receive $5,000 to be used towards tuition for the 2024-2025 school year. To be entered into the raffle, the following requirements MUST be met:

  1. Attend the October, February and April Parents Club meetings
  2. Parents Club dues must be paid in full
  3. Volunteer at 4 Parents Club events prior to the drawing in May 


Please note: Each family will be required to sign in at every Parents Club event.  Each event receives 1 credit but Prom Fest, whether working set up or day of, receives 2 credits.

Alyssa is an agent at Mirambell Realty and was recently named a Top 5 Producer for March 2024! In 2022, Alyssa was named Rookie of the Year, and she was also awarded the Top Agent in her brokerage. She then went on to be recognized as a "Rising Star" from the New Orleans Metropolitan of Realtors in 2023. Nine Chapelle Students Join the Catholic Church

We are so proud of our nine students who joined the Catholic Church at this year's Easter Vigil. We walked with each student to connect them to the RCIA Program at their parishes, and we met monthly at school so they could journey together as a Chapelle family! They have grown so much in their faith and we are so proud of them! It is truly inspiring and exciting to watch Chapelle students build a relationship with our Lord. Softball Chips Unveil State Champ Banner

Parents, team members, faculty/staff, members of the Jefferson Parish Council and more gathered at the Chapelle Softball Field to recognize the 2024 Chapelle Softball team on their Division I State Championship win! We unveiled our official signage on the fence, our team members and coaching staff received their proclamations from Councilwoman Arita Bohannan - Jefferson Parish Council District 4 , and supporters enjoyed crawfish cooked by our amazing softball parents (shout-out to Mr. Ivy Trosclair)! May 2, 2024 was even officially announced as "Archbishop Chapelle Day" in Jefferson Parish. It was truly an evening to remember for a SEASON TO REMEMBER 💚

Chapelle Softball Team Wins State Championship!

The Chipmunks defeated John Curtis 2-1 in the Division I Select Softball State Championship Game on Saturday, April 23! Our girls became State Champions for the first time in school history ! May Crowning Celebration at Chapelle

"Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Hasten to Help Us" 🙏 We celebrated our final school Mass by honoring Our Blessed Mother at our annual May Crowning Mass. Our newly elected Student Council President, Sophie Panzavecchia, crowned Mary with flowers. New E-Board Vice President, Avery Schexnaydre, presented her with a bouquet. We also honored those who attended District and State Literary Rally, as well as the softball team for their State Championship win! In our daily prayers we ask for the Blessed Mother's guidance, in hopes that she will give us the wisdom to accept God's graces and assist us in our trials. #DeusProvidebit , God Will Provide!

Chapelle Students Earn St. Timothy Award

Two Archbishop Chapelle High School students were presented the St. Timothy Award in April for their leadership, service and good moral standards exhibited through their work with church parishes and the archdiocesan community. The two Chapelle students are Abigail Fortado and Morgan Gaudet! Abigail Fortado, St. Catherine of Siena, Metairie: Abigail served on the Archbishop Chapelle campus ministry team. She is also a member of Teen CROSS and attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C. Her campus minister shared this about Abigail, “She is passionate about the Gospel and is quick to work to evangelize those around her...I see her go after the lost sheep, the outsiders, the lonely. She befriends them, meets them where they are and loves them there.” Morgan Gaudet, St. Benilde, Metairie: Morgan is a member of Teen Cross and serves as a board member for St. Benilde's youth ministry. She also served on teh Archbishop Chapelle campus ministry team. Her campus minister shared these words about Morgan, “The depth of Morgan's relationship with Jesus sets her apart...She has gone to a level of prayer, trust and confidence in God that I do not see in most high school students.”
