Award
The Deus Providebit Award honors loyal members of the Archbishop Chapelle High School community who exemplify the values of the Catholic Church and are stewards of the Chapelle mission. These persons of distinction emulate the spirit of Chapelle through their service and dedication to the school. This award may be presented to a parent, alumna, grandparent, or friend of Archbishop Chapelle High School.
2025 DEUS PROVIDEBIT AWARD
Martha McCann, a distinguished graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School, is a proud member of the Class of 1996. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in 2001 and later pursued an Alternative Secondary Certificate in Spanish in 2005, expanding her expertise to better serve students in diverse academic settings.
Martha began her teaching career in 2003, and following Hurricane Katrina, she contributed to the Archbishop Chapelle and Archbishop Rummel communities, teaching at both schools during a pivotal transitional period. Since 2006, Martha has been a dedicated member of the Archbishop Chapelle High School faculty, where she continues to inspire and educate the next generation of Chipmunks. Through her commitment to education and her devotion to her alma mater, Martha McCann exemplifies academic excellence, resilience, and a passion for teaching.
Sidney McCann, a proud member of Archbishop Rummel High School’s Class of 1997, has dedicated his career and service to leadership, mentorship, and community engagement. During his time at Rummel, Sidney excelled as a Big Brothers officer, a 3-year Varsity Track and Field letterman, and served as a Eucharistic Minister, embodying both athletic and spiritual leadership.
Sidney earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Behavioral Sciences from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in 2002. Professionally, he has thrived in the National Automotive Finance Industry. He started his career in 2000 at Guardian Leasing and later became the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2016. Sidney has played an integral role in driving operational success and business growth.
A dedicated alumnus and community advocate, Sidney continues to give back to Archbishop Rummel High School, currently serving as the Alumni Association Treasurer and as a long-standing Alumni Board member since 2021. He is also a passionate supporter of Rummel athletics where he served as Junior High Track and Field Coach and remains active on the school's Golf Tournament Committee. Through his professional achievements and volunteer contributions, Sidney McCann exemplifies leadership and dedication.
Together, they have two daughters. Isabella, a proud member of Chapelle’s Class of 2024, is currently studying Spanish at Louisiana State University with aspirations to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a teacher. Victoria, a member of Chapelle’s Class of 2027, is actively involved in numerous clubs and organizations and plays on the school’s volleyball team.
For over 15 years, Martha and Sidney have been devoted members of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Parish and have played an integral role in Chapelle’s Annual Fund Committee.
