Mrs. Gayle Benson Makes Transformational $3.5 Million Gift to Support Incarnate Word Hall
In 1962, on a plot of land adjacent to the water tower on the newly created Veterans Memorial Boulevard, five sisters from the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and four lay teachers welcomed 236 freshman students to Archbishop Chapelle High School.
Those pioneers helped pave the way for generations of Chipmunks to come, and now we are poised to celebrate their fierce dedication to their faith and fortitude in establishing the first all girls school in Jefferson Parish.
Named in honor of the founding sisters, Incarnate Word Hall will transform the campus of Archbishop Chapelle High School. With a new chapel, new Theology classrooms, a new day care, and a new parking lot, the visual impact will be stunning and set the foundation for the next sixty years of spiritual, academic, and social excellence at our home, Chapelle.
